Reaction#2: Ch.3,4, 5 & 6

Chapter 3- State and Empire
-I have to say that I did not know how big the Persian empire was. It is amazing to know that they were the largest empire a long time ago. The greeks also had a big empire but not as big as that of the Persians.

Chapter 4- Culture and Religion
-This chapter I found very interesting because it talks about different religions and culture. I find Confucianism very interesting. I feel like if Confucius had been given the opportunity to incorporate his ideas into their political system, things would have been a lot different in China. He believed in respect and obedience to the superiors, but he also believed that the people with power or at the top should serve as role models to those at the bottom, and according to him, that would only make them more obedient. Daoism is also very similar but Daoists believed that the power between the sexes should be balanced, and Confucianism believed in a hierarchy where the male had more power than the woman.

Chapter 5- Society and Inequality

-After reading this chapter, I felt sad and angry at the same time. This is because of the class differences in China, the class and cast in India, and Roman slavery. It is so sad to read about how a group of people are treated differently because of the family they are born into. The cast system in India was horrible because the wealthy took advantage of those who lived in poverty. Roman slavery was just sad. I still can't believe how many slaves they had, and what is more impressive is how even the low class people owned  slaves.

Chapter 6- Africa and Americas
-I found this chapter very interesting. Learning about Africa and the early people living there was very interesting. I also liked reading about the Mayan people and being Mexican makes me even more interested in learning more about them.
