Ch.16
This chapter I really like, this is because the section about the Abolition of slavery was in it. Slavery was viewed as something wrong and went agains many people's beliefs. It is sad to imagine what slaves went through. I don't understand how people had the heart to treat other human beings as animals and I also can't believe how much time it had to pass before anyone did anything to end slavery. That is a horrible thing to do. We are human beings and we should never treat each other like that again. That is just horrible!
Ch.17
The Industrial Revolution created new jobs and marked the beginning of new technology. There were next machines that produced a lot more than what people could produce by themselves. The machines began to take over, and to do the work that was done by the man (humans). I find this very interesting because if we look at how much technology has transformed our lives, we can see that the more technology we have, the less physical work we do, and I personally think that is a really bad thing. What will happen the day that those machines no longer work and we can't fix them, and we don't know how to do the job that the machines do?
Ch.18
In this chapter, I really like how the images shown on pages 832 and 883 reflect the way of thinking of the English. The image of the octopus with eleven hands and the head of an english man is representing greed and selfishness.
The image on page 883 is a representation of social Darwinism.
